Yes, it is one of the tropical paradises!

Prvo noč sem prespal v mestu Alajuela, ki leži priročno blizu letališča v poceni hotelu Trotamundos (www.hoteltrotamundos.com).Gostom je na voljo kuhinja in brezplačna uporaba interneta. Prvi vir informacij pa je vsekakor Wendy, ki pozna mesto z daljno okolico kot lasten vrt.

V okolici mesta Ciudad Quesada vabi več toplih vrelcev. Udobno

que – Toplice v gozdu (www.termalesdelbosque.com). Ob bližnjem potoku sredi gozda na dan privre več vrelcev tople mineralne vode ujetih v bazenčke. Še posebno vzdušje je ponoči, ko poti skozi gozd in bazenčke osvetlijo z diskretno svetlobo. Stemni se že kmalu po 18.uri in takrat deževni gozd preplavi še več nenavadnih glasov. Z malo sreče je mogoče naleteti na katerega izmed gozdnih prebivalcev. Najbolj običajno na različne ptiče, vključno s tukani, ki se ponašajo z velikimi pisanimi kljuni. Tudi lenivci so ves čas prisotni a jih je težko opaziti, ker se prehranjujejo z listjem v vrhu najvišjih drevesnih krošenj. Bližnja srečanja z žival

Eden izmed najbolj zanimivih in ne pretežko dostopnih naravnih rezervatov je Monte Verde – Zelena gora. Na krajše pohode v deževni gozd se je mogoče odpraviti že v okolici mesta, daljše urejene poti z visečimi mostovi pa se nahajajo nekaj kilometrov višje. Tam je urejenih tudi več adrenalinskih središč, v katerih ponujajo predvsem vratolomno spuščanje po pletenicah speljanih skozi gozd. Pension Santa Elena (www.pensionsantaelena.com) je nekakšno popotniško središče naselja. Najcenejše sobe so res preproste, toda zraven prvotne hiše so postavili novo s sobami, ki nudijo vse udobje. Tudi klimatsko napravo, ki pa večji del leta niti ni nujno potrebna. Ran, upravnik italijanskih korenin, ve kako se stvarem streže v tovrstnih hotelih. Ves čas je v stiku z gosti, jim svetuje ali pa jih skuša zabavati...

Tropske plaže za vsak okus seveda so - nekaj le

pih na robu parka Manuel Antonio ob Tihem oceanu. Tod velja obiskati tudi kmetijsko notranjost - vasica Londres je kar primerna. Z nekaj penzioni, privlačno lego ob reki, možnostjo obiska plantaže začimb… Ugodna prenočišča ponuja Američanka Elena (www.fincaamanecer.com). Prespati je mogoče tudi v preprosti drevesni hiški na velikem posestvu. Njena prijateljica Heidi tudi oddaja bungalove. Old town of hanseatic city Tallin is one of the best preserved in Europe. One can easily spend some days among old streets, especially during the summer months with a lot of events. Even new part of the city is interesting with new arhitecture and shopping malls.
Parnu is a nice resort city with some km long sendy beach. Watch out for interesting decorated wooden house doors!
Spend some time on the islands! Saaremaa is porbably the most complete with something for everybody. One natural wonder is a perfectly rounded meteorit crater with lake in it! Muhu is more tranquile and Kihnu the most unusuall with islanders who are proud of their costums and traditional dresses.

Three Sisters Hotel is one of the best hotels in Estonia. Placed in three old merchant houses in old Tallinn and with carefully individually decorated room is a real gem. Not to mention fabolous food and perfect service. The British queen Elisabeta II. was just one of the most famoust guests…

One of the most interesting hotels in Parnu is Victoria in an almost 100 years old building. Nice rooms and specially invitable caffe-restaurant. The owner has got some interesting bungalows to rent in the county, where he organizes folclore events and different meetings. Riga is attraction nr.1, with carefully renovated houses from hanseatic times, splendid art nouveau arhitecture and colorfull old town with shops, cafees, gardens… Try unique city tour with Amber way, which is combined with food and beer degustation!

The Baltic sea is just som 15 km away and there lies one of the biggest resorts in Europe – Jurmala. Group of small towns along the 33 km of sandy beach is amazing. With houndreds of old wooden villlas, long shoping area, parks in the pine woods…
Around the country there are several interesting renovated castles. Some converted in fancy hotels.

Birini castle – pinky painted castle was a sanatorium n the Soviet times, but today is an exclusive hotel. Spacious rooms are full of historical furniture and the restaurant is located in arched basement. Ask about castle ghost – she is kind, but her story is a bit scary… In the gardens look out for the oak of love . There are hundreds of small bells in pairs on the brenches of big oak – the lovers throw them on the oak and they stay there as the simbol of hopefully ethernal love…

Dikli castle – manor house
Yellow coloured castle is full off interesting rooms with old furniture. The castle is known for great collection of stoves and tens of modern paintings. It is often possible to see events with historical backgrounds and costumes.

Good option in Jurmala is Riga Beach Hostel. Just some 100 m away from the beach and a bit more from the shoping area and train station. Rooms are bright with big comon area, colorfull walls are full of old Jurmala pictures.

LITHUANIA – LITVA
The capital Vilnius is one of the three historical gems in the Baltics. Just a must to visit end explore for a few days. With a day trip to picturesque castle Trakai on a lake island.
Ex capital Kaunas is a bit smaller but equaly interesting, with old part and 2 or more km long pedistrian street with endless shops
Another big attraction is Curonian spit. Some 100 km long and a few km wide peninsula of sandy beaches, wooden trails for hikers and cyclists and farytale wooden houses. Haven for nature lovers.
For more entertainment the resort town of Palanga is the second best choice at the seaside.
The Hill of crosses makes an unusuall tourist attraction with tens of thousends crosses of all sizes, which were left by visitors.

Cheap but good option in Vilnius is new Fortuna hostel. Great location just in front of the old town and near the train – bus station. There is a great pub in the basement of the house and parking space available.

A real gem is the renesaince old town of Zamošč – only partly restored but anyway very impresive. Bialowieza natural park (extending to Ukraina) is the last big area in which lives the european bison – zobr. Chances to see one in the wild are slim, but trekking is rewarded anyway. There is also a research center, kind of ZOO, where you can see the animals from close.

Augustow is a nice town with a beautifull setting at the lakes and river chanels. Lots of posibilities for canoeing, sailing, traveling with small ships.
Similar but more special is traveling on the Elblag chanel, some 300 km to the west. The chanel connects hanseatic city of Elblag with Ostroda. The most interesting part of trip takes some 4 hours and during that time you can excperience unique ride with a ship on a rail over some small hills!

Hotel Anders -One of the best hotels in Mazuria. Good location on a shore of lake, not far from Ostroda. With a spa center, adrenalin park and hiking trails it is perfect for nature lovers. North-eastern part is full of small but interesting towns. Lots of them have got well preserved renesaince towns squers. One of the nicest is Frydek-Mistek.

Koprivnice is famoust for the Tatra museum – the third oldest car manufactor in Europe!
For outdoor lovers the Beskydy mountains are just perfect. Lots of trails, ski runs etc. One should visit at least Pustevny (1018m). For the nice view and most of all fariytale wooden houses more then 100 years old! In one of them is a restaurant and in nearby a hotel.

Afrika hotel-Interesting boutique hotel in Frydek, just a few steps from the old town. The nonpromising exterior but the visit worth interior with african colours, paintings, sculptures and music. Cosy and comfortable rooms, small but nice restaurant.

Sopron, Balaton, Pecs, Eger are some of the places wort a visit beside Budapest. Watch out for organic arhitecture of Imre Makovecz (in Sopron, Eger, around Budapest...)!

Greenfield Hotel Golf & Spa in Buk Spa, Eastern Hungary:Nice surroundings with golf field and lots of walking trakes - also birds paradise with some lakes etc. Food is good, perhaps not so many options for a 5 star hotel. Pools are great and saunas excellent.

Eger is one of the small attractive towns in nort-eastern Hungary. With well preserved barock town center, vineyards and vine cellars makes an attractive stop. Also dont forget for the spas, especially the Salt hill, which is a natural wonder some 7 km out of town.

Hotel Romantik is perfectly located a few steps from the old town center of Eger. It has got nice and quiet rooms and an attractive garden. Breakfast is served in a spacious winter garden.

Castle Szirak in the village of the same name lies some 80 km nort-east of Budapest. It is well restored in a hotel with cosy historical rooms, a restaurant and a small museum. Some cheaper but ordinary rooms are available in the nearby buildings. Castle is also renowed for excelent spa treatmants and horse riding.

The main attraction in that area is village Holloko. Some 50 partly wooden houses represents tipical rural arhitecture and it is under Unesco protections. A tourist trap with souvenir shops and some museums, but worth a visit!

SEYCHELLES SEJŠELI

Seychelles islands are the paradise with a soul. You don't have to spend a fortune to feel it! Rooms are from 50 eur per day, but the place is unique. Places to see:

Mahe island: Capital Victoria is a nice place for a few hours – visit the old market and the botanical gardens. It is worth to rent a car at least for one day, to travel around the island. Interior is worth a stop with tea plantations and some waterfalls...

Praslin island: Small and quiet, you can get around by public bus and combination of walk. The protected natural reserve is nice but the entrance fee is high – but that is the place where coco de mer groves – the biggest kind of coconuts...

La Digue island: Small but beautifull

– easy to spend a week or more. There is almost no traffic – just bicycles, which can be rented.

From

only village there are just a few km to different beaches. The most spectacular is Anse Source D'Argent. If you'd like to visit it every day you should do this at the low tide – so you could avoid the entrance fee an bypass the official entrance along the coast. Good water shoes are recommended. Cheap but tasty creole meals (3eur) are served at the take away in the village.

Reef holiday aparments - the best thing is location - just a few km from the airport. So it is perfect for the first or last days on Seychelles. Apartments are big, with a kitchen, send beach is just acros the road. It is nice for sunbathing but the water is not deep - perfect for children. I more enjoyed small pool at the motel. There is a small store not far and also buses stop near. And a small crafts center about one kilometer away...

Plaže:

Rt Drastis je najbolj spektakularen a le za občudovat, v bližini so dostopne plaže pod klifom pri kraju Peroluades, blizu žurerskega mesta Sidari je več skalnih zalivov, tudi Canal d'amour.

Dolge peščene plaže so predvsem na JZ.

Vredno obiska: mesto Krf, palača Ahilion, Muzej školjk, najvišja otoška gora Pantokrator (917 m)-dostop po cesti, Paleokastritsa s samostanom in zalivi večinoma dostopnimi z morske strani.

Zaliv s skalnimi osamelci je zanimiv za pogledat, plaža pa nič posebnega. Je pa ob obali veliko manjših peščenih zalivčkov, kjer si skrit pred radovedneži.

Dassia,

severno od prestolnice ob dolgem zalivu avtokamp Karda beach www.kardacamp.gr Imajo tudi lično opremljene bungalove v senci starih oljk. Tu je še restavracija in bazen ter plaža 10 m stran.

Na S. Irskem ima spektakularne klife s tisočerimi pticami, na obali tjulnje in obilo osamljenih poti. Do njega je le pol ure vožnje, povezave s čolnom in trajektom so pogoste.

Giants Causeway
Najbolj znani del S.Irske obale s črnimi bazaltnimi stolpiči. Parkirati je mogoče na šverc v bližnjem zaselku ali plačati parkirnino, sicer pa vstopnine ni. Na nekaj km oddaljeni obali kjer je slikovita brv speljana na otoček (Carrickarede) je obratno – vstopnina a brezplačno parkiranje. Mirno parkirišče na katerem je mogoče tudi prespati...

Voya
se imenuje družinsko podjetje, ki še ponuja tradicionalne keltske kopeli z algami v obmorskem kraju Strandhill. Razvajanje z vročo vodo in algami, ki spustijo podoben sok kot aloe vera je pravi užitek – tudi za mačote, saj je idejni vodja Neil uspešen triatlonec! Cena 25 eur ni pretirana!

Cong
slikovita vasica na rečnem otoku z ducatom pubov je znana po snemanju filma Quiet man, z John Waynom in Maureen O'Hara. Film je pred več kot pol stoletja dobil oskarja in ponesel slavo irskega podeželja po svetu. V vasi je muzej, njegov lastnik Garry pa zna cel film na pamet. Ogledati si ga je mogoče v B&B, hostlu in kampu, ki je tudi v lasti Garryja – tip ve vse o vasi, snemanju filma in bližnjem jezeru Corrib, ki je eno najlepših na Irskem. Ob njem je razkošna graščina izpred katere vozijo turistične ladje.

Aranski otoki
med katerimi je najlaže dosegljiv največji Inishmore. Z najetim kolesom ga prekrižariš v dnevu a tudi več dni imaš kaj početi. Na otoku je nekaj starih utrdb, klifov, muzej aranskih pletenin in seveda pubov.

Dingle
Je eden izmed najbolj slikovitih polotokov s strmimi klifi, peščenimi obalami in istoimenskem pristanišču v katerem delfin Fungie že četrt stoletja spremlja skoraj vsako ladjo! Če se delfin slučajno ne prikaže, greš lahko na naslednjo turistično vožnjo brezplačno....

Killarney
z živahnim mestnim središčem in pubi. Okolica ponuja čudovito naravo s hribi, jezeri, slapovi ter grad, samostan, nekaj cerkva in še kaj.
Baltimore
luštno pristaniško mestece na jugozahodu. Odlično izhodišče za obisk bližnjih otokov – eden najbolj zanimivih je Cape Clear, kjer živi kakih 100 ljudi, imajo pube, avte brez registracij in čudovito naravo...Tu se lahko naučiš irske gelščine v poletnih šolah ali za šankom.
Cahir
S slikovitim gradom. Lep sprehod še do obnovljene graščakove koče, ki spominja na pravljično vilo.
